Mystic Pots Ceramics Studio Website

Mystic Pots Ceramics Studio is a small-batch pottery studio offering intimate clay classes and one-of-a-kind functional pieces. I designed and built a new Squarespace website using the artist’s photos, logo, and written content to capture her “dark, witchy medieval” aesthetic in a way that’s still clean and easy to navigate. The site now gives students a clear path to explore classes, book sessions online, and browse a gallery of her work, all in a mobile-friendly, story-driven layout that reflects the atmosphere of the studio.

  • Prominent Calls-to-Action: Hero section with clear “Book a Class” call-to-action leading directly into the scheduling flow.

  • SEO Optimization: Improved content and structure for better search engine visibility.

My Role

As the designer and developer:

  • Led discovery and planning based on an in-studio visit and follow-up meetings.

  • Translated the artist’s “dark, witchy medieval” brief into a usable design system (color, fonts, layout).

  • Built the full site in Squarespace, using the artist’s logo, photos, and written copy.

  • Configured Acuity Scheduling for group classes and custom parties, including pricing and confirmation flows.

  • Drafted return, terms of service, and privacy policy language tailored to her studio operations.

  • Provided checklists and guidance to make it easy for the client to supply content in stages.

  • Tested class booking and contact flows on multiple devices before launch.

Challenges & Solutions

  • Balancing Vibe with Readability

    • Challenge: The artist’s brand leans into a dark, gothic, medieval aesthetic, which initially led us toward highly decorative display fonts. In testing, however, these typefaces proved difficult to read, especially in longer sections of text and on smaller screens.

    • Solution: Evaluated several typeface pairings and selected a combination that preserves the dark, gothic feel while significantly improving legibility and accessibility. Decorative fonts are used strategically for headings and accents, while clean, readable fonts support body copy and key calls-to-action, keeping the overall experience both on-brand and easy to use.

  • Scheduling & payments Across Multiple Tools

    • Challenge: Class booking needed to be reliable and paid in advance, using Acuity and Square together.

    • Solution: Configured Squarespace Scheduling to require payment at booking and documented exactly how refunds and changes work through her payment processor so expectations are clear for both the artist and students.
